    SunEdison Closes 98MW of Solar Projects in Europe

    SunEdison today provided additional details on the solar project closings announced last week. The company closed three transactions involving approximately 98 megawatts (MWp) of photovoltaic (PV) power plants in Europe during the second quarter. The transactions include the sale of a 60MWp power plant in Bulgaria to a consortium of investors consisting of an affiliate of First Reserve Energy Infrastructure Fund, Crescent Capital and ACWA Power; a 13MWp portfolio of projects in Italy to Eoxis; and a 25MWp power plant in Italy to an institutional investor.

    ISET Achieves Record Panel Efficiency for CIGS Technology

    International Solar Electric Technology, Inc. (ISET) has announced that it has achieved a champion module efficiency of 12% using a second generation sprayable solution-based (SSB) CIGS thin-film deposition technology. The 12.0% efficiency, on a prototype of ISET's portable (9 cm x 29.8 cm) CIGS module, was recently verified by The National Renewable Energy Laboratory. According to ISET, this result represents a world record for a monolithically integrated thin-film module made by a sprayable solution method.

    First Solar Celebrates Groundbreaking on 20MW PV Project

    Joined by local elected officials and representatives from First Solar and FirstEnergy, Governor Martin O'Malley today broke ground on a new, 160 acre solar farm project located on the grounds of the Maryland Correctional Institution (MCI) in Hagerstown. Once built, the Maryland Solar project will produce 20 megawatts of power - enough clean energy to power approximately 2,700 Maryland homes, displacing approximately 23,000 metric tons of CO2 annually - the equivalent of taking 4,400 cars off the road each year. The project will create 125 construction jobs and at least three full time jobs will be created for the lifetime of the panels on the site.

    Business Operations Continue at Q.CELLS

    The respective Local Court (Amtsgericht) of Dessau/Rosslau has opened insolvency proceedings in respect of the photovoltaic company Q-Cells SE. Henning Schorisch, lawyer and partner of the law firm hww wienberg wilhelm, has been appointed as the insolvency administrator, after already acting as the provisional insolvency administrator. Schorisch intends to continue business operations of the company for the time being. No redundancies are planned at present.
