Google Invests in Silver Ridge Power's Mount Signal Solar Project
October 10, 2013 - Silver Ridge Power, formerly known as AES Solar, and Google announced today that Google became a partner and will invest approximately $103 million in Silver Ridge Power's 265.7MW Mount Signal Solar project. The project, also known as Imperial Valley Solar 1, is a utility-scale solar photovoltaic ("PV") generating plant under construction in Imperial County, California. Mount Signal Solar is expected to be fully operational in 2014 and will sell its output to the San Diego Gas & Electric Company under a long-term power purchase agreement. Google's obligation to provide a portion of the committed funds is subject to customary conditions precedent, including the commencement of operations at Mount Signal Solar. -

Kyocera Collaborating with Mitsui and SB Energy to Construct 19.6MW Solar Park in Osaka, Japan
October 10, 2013 - The Kyocera Group's subsidiary in charge of sales of solar products and services in Japan, Kyocera Solar Corporation and Mitsui & Co., Ltd. have agreed to collaborate on the operation of the SoftBank Izumiotsu Solar Park, a 19.6-megawatt (MW) solar power plant being built by SB Energy in Osaka Prefecture, Japan. -

SolarWorld Solar Panels Will Power Carpet Tile Manufacturing Plant in Georgia Town
Oct. 9, 2013 - About 1 megawatt of solar panels from SolarWorld soon will go live atop a carpet-tile manufacturing plant of Shaw Industries Group Inc. (Shaw) in Cartersville, Ga., located about 45 miles northwest of Atlanta. The Cartersville solar power system, expected to be commissioned later this month, will contribute about 1.4 million kilowatt-hours of power into the Georgia Power utility grid, enough power to supply about 100 homes. -

SMA to Receive JET Certification for Three-Phase Inverter
